Finalist at American Book Fiction Awards

I’m so happy to announce that Painting Kuwait Violet is a finalist at the American Book Fiction Awards. Yay!!!!

At first I have to admit, I was bummed out for not winning. My publisher was kind enough to put the finalist badge on my book cover and we updated the Amazon Book Bio. Authors from Solstice Publishing were also happy and so was my editor John De Boer, to whom I owe many thanks. I’ve said this in every interview, this book wouldn’t have been so fine without him. Thank you John. 🙂

So when my publisher started making changes to the cover, that’s when I realized what a big deal being a finalist was. To be honest, I just threw my hat in the ring. There are plenty of multicultural books out there that were published last year. And with a rise in appetite for Chinese fiction thanks to Crazy Rich Asians, I wasn’t even sure I’d be considered. I was so wrong!

The winner is J.G .Shull’s Transplants. I haven’t read the book but congratulate the author on her win. It does sound like an interesting read.

Painting Kuwait Violet

This novel has surpassed all my expectations. Apart from being a finalist at ABFA, we reached the Amazon best seller list this year and it’s been my most appreciated work of all. It’s been nothing short of amazing. From the reviews to the fans, it’s been fantastic.

Nothing could have prepared me for the milestones we achieved with this book! If anything it’s given me plenty of confidence for my next women’s fiction.
