St Patrick’s Cathedral Catholic NYC

On Wednesday, 3rd April, 2019, Cardinal Timothy Dolan hosted Catholic young adults at St Patrick’s Cathedral. It was so moving. ๐Ÿ˜ข The Holy hour is one of the best I’ve attended. Audrey Assad was at the piano/keyboard (woot-woot).๐Ÿ™ƒ As you saw on facebook, I said she’s awesome and got a few pics with her. The tone of our mass and praise and worship during holy hour was very reverent, given that it is Lent. Catholic NYC organized this event.

Holy hour was amazing. It’s wonderful how the Lord speaks to our hearts in just those few moments. I can’t say enough good things about adoration. It’s one of my favorite things but with the piano and Audrey’s voice, they simply elevated worship. So many people were crying and the hymns seemed apt especially for our demographic.

Here are the words to her song, “I shall not want

From the love of my own comfort
From the fear of having nothing
From a life of worldly passions
Deliver me O God

From the need to be understood
And from a need to be accepted
From the fear of being lonely
Deliver me O God
Deliver me O God

And I shall not want, no, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness, I shall not want

From the fear of serving others
Oh, and from the fear of death or trial
And from the fear of humility
Deliver me O God
Yes, deliver me O God

Catholic NYC Mass at St. Patrick’s

After Holy Hour and confessions, there was a concelebrated mass. There’s a video on facebook. I’m sharing a link here. My pictures and videos are all grainy. ๐Ÿ˜’ This video has the entire mass with Audrey’s amazing solos including one of my favorites, The King of Love my Shepherd is. Cardinal Dolan’s main message based on yesterday’s reading was to hold on to your memories and your dreams. He gave an example of Pope Pius IX who was abducted and imprisoned in a cave. The only thing Pius said that sustained him were his “memories and dreams.” And so the Cardinal advised us to hold on to our memories and never stop dreaming. For those who don’t know, here’s a history lesson. It was Pope Pius IX who created the Archdiocese of New York in 1808 and announced his intention to build St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Audrey Assad

Can I say I love her voice? ๐Ÿ˜ Again! I had a bit of a fangirl moment. ๐Ÿคฉ I told her I loved her song, His eye is on the sparrow. That song has carried me through some tough times. Anyway, she was so nice and patient, to pose for pictures and talk to everyone.

Catholic NYC Social

So following our mass and pictures, we were all invited for a Catholic social at Haskell Green. Cardinal Dolan sponsored appetizers, waffle fries, mini burgers, more fries, and quesadillas (did I spell that right? ๐Ÿค”). The music was slow to start and I didn’t stay too long. Needless to say, bar socials are not my cup of tea. I don’t enjoy them. This has been my second one following our social at the writer’s conference and it’s not something I’ll ever voluntarily do again. However, if it’s something up your alley, Catholic NYC does this on a regular basis every first Wednesday of the month. Sign up with them if you’re interested.

I Will Dwell In Your House Forever

By midnight, when I got home, Audrey’s song with words from Psalm 23:6 was still on my mind. So I’m leaving you with the song. The piano is amazing and the key change!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Also, this month there’s lots of giveaways happening since it’s my birthday month. Touchpoint press has also announced a book release date on my birthday! Sign up on my facebook page for freebies.
