First, Happy Easter everyone. I’ve been close to bursting with my news of this cover ever since I received it from my publisher, Kathi Sprayberry.

Now onto my cover. For those who’ve followed my writing journey, you know that PAINTING KUWAIT VIOLET has been ten years in the making. It has been through hundreds of edits. Yes!

Because after every rejection, beta read, critique, chapter writing competition and self-read I tweaked it some more.

In fact, I doubt if any of my early readers and critique partners will recognize the book.

This is my debut as a women’s fiction author. So far I’ve been writing romance novels. And Christian non fiction +speculative fiction shorts.

I’ve actually lost count of the number of agents, publishers and presses I’ve queried, but it’s more than 100.

I pitched Solstice weeks before Christmas and in two months, they decided to pick it up. Now I have a cover and I’m so happy with how this one turned out. Its got that feminine appeal to it and reflects the women’s fiction theme.

I love this way more than I do Cinders of Castlerea’s cover. I hate to play favorites with my book babies but in this case I took the time to study the market and the books in my genre. Since I was new I had to do my research. Women’s fiction does have airy and light covers.

So I searched and looked through the stock photos of what I could use and came up with three images and I’m so glad that this was chosen. In fact, I’ll even share the query I used because I won a query critique with editor, Kaelan Rhywiol who helped me polish this up before #PITMAD. It did get me partial requests. So I’ll share my successful query with you soon.

As far as the book is concerned, PAINTING KUWAIT VIOLET is a mysterious, multicultural women’s fiction of 69,000 words. It is set in Kuwait, six years after the Gulf War, 1996.
